Angelina Jolie drawing by WhizzieWhizzer Angelina Jolie drawing by WhizzieWhizzer
I have an exhibition coming up in August so I thought I'd draw Angie to go with my Brad drawing =D
I used 20" x 25" artboard to keep it the same size as Brad's.
drawn using black leads & graphite powder on the back ground & carbon powder where needed........
hope you like it, at least a months work in this piece.........

Lovely work John, of an attractive lady. Do you grind the powder from the pencils, yourself? :iconlovelyplz:

Thank you for answering my question so promptly, John. I haven't spotted any graphite or carbon powder in Hobby Lobby, the Arts & Crafts store where I shop for most of my art supplies. Nor have I seen it advertised in The Artist Magazine, or any of the art supply catalogs that I get. I must say that you Aussies are advanced over us Yanks! I do have some carbon pencils though, but haven't used them much. I know that carbon does not get shiny, like graphite does. I am also aware of woodless graphite pencils and graphite sticks. Another question: How do you apply the graphite and carbon powders? Do you use a small, soft brush? Tortillions? Or perhaps cotton buds or facial tissue? I hope you do not mind my asking.

yeah I because not many people us the powders the art shops won't stock it.
here are the powders you will want [link]
I use these guys all the time, it's a great site.
Joyce you know those cotton wool pads you girls use to take off your makeup?
well I use them to rub the powder on then blow the excess off. I use Q-tips for those tight spots.
lol hey you can ask me anything you want

Beautiful drawing:hug:

Plus, it's so refreshing to see a portrait of Ange that no-one else has done ... it gets kind of repetitive seeing the same ref picture drawn over and over again!!
